Israel supporters want a just peace for both sides

When Charles Hayes wonders if Israel’s objection to Palestine’s membership of the International Criminal Court is a fear that Benjamin Netanyahu “and his government officials might find themselves in the dock”, (Letters, January 14), it echoes a polemic of Robert Fisk.

Israel supporters want a just peace for both sides

On January 4, Fisk defended the PA application by detailing the democratic evolution of the PLO/PA.

Fisk serialised historical Palestinian suffering, before acknowledging “these chappies” had promoted “suicide bombings and intifadas”. He said Israel was being treated as a pariah, as “the world is tired of witnessing the suffering of Palestinians”. This is outrageous. Israel’s supporters are not blind to the tragedy of Gaza. However, they are cognisant that the Jewish state has been under threat since it was founded.
