The good, the bad and the year that was 2014

Here is my list of 2014’s highs and lows.

The good, the bad and the year that was 2014

The highs:

1. The thousands of people who got new jobs.

2. Cliffs of Moher breaking the one-million-visitors mark. Congrats.

3. Katie Taylor winning her fifth world title in boxing.

4. The reform of the local authorities and other bodies.

5. President Michael D. Higgins’s official visit to the UK.

The lows:

1. Significant increase in rents.

2. Water charges.

3. Continued loss of friends, and others, through suicide.

4. The massive storms.

5. 9% of the country delightedly bought tickets for Garth Brooks concerts, only to be disappointed.
