Blood money for commemoration of 1916 Rising is a waste of €26m

The Republic of Ireland is the only ‘liberal democracy’ to have as its foundation the brute force of an insurrection carried out by an elitist private army against the will of the people. 

The result of this treacherous act was 350 dead civilians (including 38 children) and 2,000 wounded. The number of dead during those six days of blood will never be known, so terrible was the carnage.

It is highly likely that many more — especially civilians — died from their wounds long after the event.
