Through 30 years of bloodshed they have portrayed the IRA as later day Knights Templar forced into violent conflict, defending their community from imperialist bigots who sought their destruction.
Mairia Cahill, however, paints a different picture, one where people at the heart of the ‘armed struggle’preyed upon their own community, not in isolated incidents, but a culture of abuse that was widespread where victims were silenced by threat and the perpetrators of this abuse were shielded by their fellows.
