So, the local authority budget was passed by the city council in Cork finally and the council saved from abolition. The theatrics that went on beforehand were just a charade.

But the councillors saved their jobs. Hollywood should hire these guys and make them stars.

The council should be abolished: it costs too much for these people to talk through the behinds.Regional councils would do. A council for Munster, Leinster, Connaught/Ulster and a fourth for Dublin. No manager. Just elect a mayor to do the administration end of a council’s business. We may then see democracy at work, and that would be something new in Ireland.
