Customers won’t face a three week wait if they need to book a NCT

Contrary to the article that appeared( Irish Examiner, November 18) I wish to confirm there is no three month backlog to book an NCT appointment.

The availability of appointments on the NCT website is not a reflection of the total number of slots available to customers.

In order to manage customers’ needs which range from those who wish to book 90 days in advance and those who need a date in a hurry, the NCT holds back a significant number of appointments.

Customers are currently getting an appointment, on average, within 2 weeks .

NCTS have been planning for the impact that changes to NCT enforcement might bring this month.
