Greedy teachers keeping jobs while in the Dáil

Why are there so many teachers in politics? Aren’t they better paid than most teachers across the EU? There seems to be a lot of them in Government. Even our Taoiseach is a teacher.

Does this explain the state of the country and education system or is that just a coincidence? Why isn’t one well-paid job enough for them? Or are they a very greedy class of individuals?

When they go into politics, they are allowed to keep their teaching position open and thereby keep another person out of a job.

If you go into politics, resign your teaching post and stop making a mess of two jobs.

Maybe, one good state pension from teaching isn’t enough for them? Is it the gravy train of politics and the gold plated pensions that they seek?
