My students ‘exposed’ sex-trafficking. Politicians must do the same

The use of social media site, Tinder, in exposing sex-trafficking is to be applauded (Irish Examiner, November 11) as it increases awareness of this crime.

My students ‘exposed’ sex-trafficking. Politicians must do the same

As a teacher at St Mary’s Secondary School in Mallow, Co. Cork, I hav

e been greatly encouraged by the interest our students have shown in combatting this criminal trade. That interest prompted the students to enter the Young Social Innovator Awards and to mount events, such as a Colour Run, to increase awareness in North Cork.

They have inspired their parents, neighbours and teachers to take this issue seriously.

I encourage our local TDs to also listen and ensure the issue remains high on the political agenda.
