C’mon Bono give €300m: there’s no need to be afraid

So Bob Geldof is re-running his Band Aid single, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’. Did you know the combined wealth of the new generation of Band Aid singers is €3 billion? The combined wealth of the original Band Aid singers is nearly €20 billion.

No doubt Bob would say personal wealth isn’t the issue. It is Bob.

We need a public figure to rally a call to confront the immoral wealth gap between the poor and the rich. I’ve no doubt bored pop singers feel good while asking others to throw a few coins at starving and desperate Africans. That approach was a failure 30 years ago.

So Bob, it’s time to twist Bono’s arm for a €300m donation. Get Sting and Bowie to hand over €500 million.

After all, it’s Christmas time.
