Use the USC to fund a proper health service

We need to create a closer connection and understanding of the true cost and value of State benefits.

Use the USC to fund a proper health service

There is much resistance to accept or understand charges like the local property tax, water and sewerage charges – the logic behind such charges is to facilitate a reduction of income tax which is a tax on work and endeavour.

How then can we expect to introduce or impose Universal Health Insurance (UHI) given that we have heard scary figures that it may cost from €900 up to €2,500 per person?

We have accepted the universal social charge (USC) over the past few years, so why not use it as a universal basis to fund health care?
