Why does God get the rap for the Devil’s work?

During his interview with Elber Twomey on 8/9/14 (Irish Examiner Sept 9), RTÉ’s Seán O’Rourke asked Elber “How could a loving God allow such a terrible thing to happen?” referring to the death of her husband and children due to a car crash.

Why does God get the rap for the Devil’s work?

Why does the media, and everyone else, always blame God in situations like this and other tragedies? Why is the blame never attributed to God’s adversary? If one believes God exists then it follows one must believe in the existence of an evil entity, an entity that is constantly trying to cause human suffering. This, after all, is the basis of Christian teaching.
