Examiner right to debunk WWI myths

I wish to thank the Irish Examiner and Jim Roche for their excellent history pullout which appeared in the Irish Examiner on August 23rd last.

The Examiner is unique in being the only national newspaper which has published anything that questions the present mindset which glorifies WW1, instead of recognising it as the needless slaughter of the young men of Europe and its colonies, as well as many civilians.

You are doing us all a service by stating the facts as they were and opposing the all-pervasive rewriting of history to praise Ireland’s (unfortunate) part in WW1, which is being done simply to serve the present political agenda.
