Protect our heritage - Bantry House

It is one of the most iconic and beautiful buildings in the south of Ireland, one where so many strands of our history come together. It has, through a series of arts events and public functions, found a new role in its community and made many new friends.
Like many buildings of this scale and age — and origin — its ability to generate the kind of income needed to sustain it has been dramatically curtailed. Occasionally, but all too often, owners are forced to sell the family silver or, in this case at an auction planned to raise €1m next month, some of the house’s defining contents — invaluable and irreplaceable furniture and works of art. .
