I applaud Professor Kinsella’s proposal, in your recent edition (Letters, August 30), to help rebuild Gaza’s economy by establishing scholarships, but am a little disappointed in his proposed list of subjects.

He forgot to include tunnel-building, which could have drawn on the years of experience of Irish navvies throughout the world, and bomb-making, an ‘industry’ Ireland once led. What’s the point of talent and experience if you don’t use them to educate?
