Bring in bonus bounce

Regarding Mary Regan’s article on August 18 (‘Labour bounce could win 20 seats’), as a Labour supporter I am very glad to hear this. After the local elections I thought we were going the way of the PDs and Greens.

Bring in bonus bounce

Minsters tell us that we’re now never better. The economy is growing, unemployment is down ... [however] my wife and I live on a state pension of €432 a week. That’s about what our TDs earn daily. This Government has done away with the death grant, cut the electricity allowance and the telephone allowance. They introduced the household tax and the waste collection bill. Now they are about to introduce the water tax.

If things are that great can I suggest something that might help people like my wife and I: Bring back the Christmas bonus... Think of the amount of votes it would be worth among the pensioners ... It would also make it easier for people to pay the water tax, which means the Government would be getting it back within 12 months.
