It’s 100 years since WW1 but what have we learned?

It’s 100 years since the start of World War One, but have we learned? Apparently not. Just look at all the suffering worldwide.

It’s 100 years since WW1 but what have we learned?

Why have millions died? Why does this suffering continue? Are we, the human race, asleep? Not conscious?

Not present in the here-and-now? Living in our minds, in the past and the future? We are dysfunctional in our thinking and views about religion, land, politics etc.

Why perpetuate this suffering? Have we not had enough? Can we do anything to change it? Can we rise above it?

Maybe by starting with ourselves. By not creating suffering for ourselves. By waking up and becoming present and aware. In true presence, we cannot hurt another. In true presence, we truly listen and try to understand. We change ourselves first.

And then the world changes.
