‘Ignorant minority’ abstained on Gaza motion

I would like to express my outrage and embarrassment that this government used its place on the inter-governmental Human Rights Council to do absolutely nothing about the atrocities in Gaza.

‘Ignorant minority’ abstained on Gaza motion

The motion before the council was to set up a human rights enquiry in Gaza and to call on all parties to respect international law. The Government should be required to explain what it was about the motion that they felt they could not support.

Thankfully Ireland was in the ignorant minority that abstained, with the United States rejecting the motion. The motion has been adopted. That should not excuse the Government for its cowardice and inaction.
