Can Mary save planet?

I welcome the appointment of former President Mary Robinson as the UN special envoy for climate change.

Can Mary save planet?

Her international profile and communications skills will get the message across. But it may be too late. Mankind-assisted nature will take its course. In a few generations, the Earth may resemble a scene from the 1995 film Waterworld, without Kevin Costner to save us. While delaying climate change may be possible, focus should be on contingency planning to move nations to higher ground. The outlook is not good. Teach your grandchildren how to swim.
