Leave rabbits alone

British writer Jeanette Winterson has surrendered what could have been a strong point about the horrors of animal farming with her latest "a rabbit ate my veggies" strop.

Leave rabbits alone

Rabbits foraged off the land long before humans did. They take only what they need to survive. And unlike Winterson, they don’t kill to eat. Rabbits are nature’s pruners.

Their gentle browsing actually encourages growth in many plants.

There are far more humane methods of dealing with so-called “pests”, whose land Winterson has encroached on in order to grow what she fancies.
