Acknowledging the fact

How often have we heard politicians say "I am not in politics for the money"?

Recently published figures show substantial “separation” payments that will be made to MEPs and local councillors who have not been re-elected.

Taking into account salaries, allowances paid to TDs, councillors and MEPs it is clear all are very well compensated during their time in office. We should acknowledge the senior civil servants who assist politicians with their salaries, etc.
