Action over babies’ tragedy needed

Ireland’s dark past regarding the treatment of the socially unwanted, in the instance of Tuam Mother & Babies Home, vulnerable children, babies and single mothers, has been apparent during these unfortunate yet not surprising revelations in the shame-based response of the Irish people, media, government, and state bodies.

Action over babies’ tragedy needed

Sadly, initial speculation and obfuscation through media and ‘expert opinion’ has the effect of deflecting away from the horrible truth we must face — the truth that women, babies and children suffered cruel and ignominious lives and continue to suffer a loss of dignity in death, all so the larger Irish society could and can continue to function with the nation’s shame locked away, hidden, mistreated, and eventually buried in an unmarked grave.

The Irish State, its agents and the same relevant government departments tasked with advising the Government on how to proceed, have been a secretive and passive witness of the truth surrounding the Tuam Mother & Baby Homes and as such clearly cannot be relied upon for unbiased guidance.
