Psychiatric whistleblowers must be listened to

Thankfully, the testimony of harassed ‘informers’ amongst the gardaí, formerly doubly patronised as the fiction of troublemakers, is now being forensically addressed by being necessarily accorded prima facie status, mainly thanks to the media.

How much longer then do we have to wait for the press to give similar weight to investigating the testimony of psychiatric whistleblowers of this double stigma of institutionalising psychiatric treatment, firstly for instance countering their own and psychiatry’s standpoint, that they ‘lack insight’, rather as courageously recounting embodied narrative tempered in the authentic furnace of personal experience.
