Our Sin party

Ginmhilleadh, the Irish word for abortion, means ‘the destruction of the unborn’.

Our Sin party

Pope Francis 1 and St Pope John Paul II both described abortion as an ‘abominable sin’. Sinn Féin, the main political party supporting abortion in Ireland, blocked the closure of the Marie Stopes abortion clinic in Belfast last year.

Sinn Féin means ‘We Ourselves’ or ‘Ourselves Alone’. With their new Anglo-Irish identity and support for Ginmhilleadh they they might consider anglicising its name to Sin Féin — Our Sin or Sin itself?
