Brought to book
This despite the fact that 72% of Irish males between the ages of 18 and 29 and 58% of those over 50 describe themselves as “sports fans”. Apart from paraplegics and those visually impaired, there is a significant proportion of the population with reading difficulties. Some 54% of Irish adults have literacy skills no higher than Level 2, which means they can only deal with material which is simple and clearly laid out and 20% score at Level 1, which is so low that they may have difficulty even reading the instructions on a medicine bottle. Given the above facts and the number of sports persons’ stories available in hard copy I believe there is an opening for audio book publishers in this area.
