In all our interests to solve du Plantier investigation

Newspaper reports indicate Mr Ian Bailey is calling on the Minister for Justice and Acting Garda Commissioner to refrain from any further co-operation with the French investigation into the murder of Sophie Tuscon de Plantier. This is his legal right as a citizen of this country.

Mr Bailey may feel aggrieved by the manner in which he was treated during the investigation of this murder. He will have the opportunity to address such grievances through the courts. This should not detract from the fact a murder has been committed and needs to be fully investigated.

The family of Sophie Tuscon du Plantier unfortunately have yet to find closure.

I would suggest it be in the interests of all law-abiding citizens, and in particular residents of the West Cork area, every effort is made to identity the culprit(s) and to this end any legitimate investigation should be fully supported.
