Teachers’ hours for all

I refer to a request from John Devlin that teachers reduce holidays (Letters, April 28).

Teachers’ hours for all

This is entirely the wrong approach in the 21st century. It is necessary for all other workers to increase holidays to “June, July and August” or equivalent three months at whatever time of the year suits. It is also necessary to reduce hours to something approaching teacher school hours. There is no other way to provide employment to sustain society. There isn’t enough work in this technological world for everyone to work as long as they do.
