We’re being driven out

As the summer approaches, I encourage readers to be ever-vigilant of the once migratory species, ‘The Yellow Reg’.

For years, this motorised being was a rare sight, concentrated here around the middle of July.

However, nowadays our southern-based Revenue ‘rangers’ have become lax in gathering the VRT due on this cross-border migratory species, preferring to nibble away the hard-earned corn pile of the middle classes of Eire.

Now, due to the internet, this genus is no longer transitory in its nature and is increasingly invading the territory of the native ‘White Reg’, causing a stockpiling of expensive second-hand cars. Please beware of the next Yellow Reg you see on the roads of Ireland.

You may think them a rare sight — friendly and harmless. They are undoubtedly here to stay.

It is not only the Grey Squirrel who’s en masse conquest we might soon come to rue.
