Was the Obamas’ visit good value for money?

My Irish Examiner informs me that a Wicklow car hire service was paid over €82,000 to ferry around the US First Lady, her two daughters and entourage during a short visit to Dublin last June.

Was the Obamas’ visit good value for money?

Would our diligent PAC please look into this expenditure and report back to us little taxpayers that the total sum for this inbound junket of €5.6m represents good value for the taxpayer.

Would it be possible to ask them how the Department of Finance can sign off on an invoice for €82,000 for what must be the world’s record car hire for a limousine company’s services over two or three days. By any standards the cost per mile would be of great interest to all global mathematicians. In times like these I am genuinely sorry we managed to win the Battle of Clontarf.
