Garda malpractice

It is outrageous that garda whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe is subjected to ongoing harassment by fellow gardaí following his exposé of malpractice in the force.

It is disgraceful that a self-righteous, so-called colleague has scrawled “whistleblower” on a duty detail at the station where Sgt McCabe works in the traffic corps.

It means the mindset towards whistleblowers, illustrated in the “disgusting” reference by retired commissioner Martin Callinan, still persists. Ironically, since Sgt McCabe and Garda John Wilson exposed the scandal of dropping penalty points against certain motorists, a forensic report found widespread abuse of a system designed to reduce fatal accidents by making roads safer.
