Much has been made of the first UK State visit by President Higgins and the improved relations between the two countries.

Closer ties with our nearest neighbour are to be welcomed, but this incessant sycophantic reporting of Queen Elizabeth is not.

Queen Elizabeth is Commander of the British armed forces of which several thousand still occupy the six counties. Surely we can forge stronger links with Britain without this forelock tugging?
