Bailey revelations - Unbelievable behaviour

The latest revelations in the Ian Bailey case are so very mind boggling that they defy even the purple prose of the penny dreadfuls.

If the claim that gardaí discussed paying, with cash or drugs or both, a man to secure evidence that would incriminate Mr Bailey in the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in 1996 is substantiated, and that “if” is more in hope than expectation, then the actions of the officers involved were not only corrupt but almost unbelievable. That that behaviour resonates in the Kieran Boylan saga today means the next Garda commissioner must have an appetite for reform far beyond anything imagined by their predecessors.
