Peace walk marks 1,000th anniversary of battle

April 2014 is a very special time for the Irish people, but particularly the people of Clontarf, as it is the celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of The Battle of Clontarf.

One of the many events to be held in Clontarf is an Ecumenical Camino Peace Walk.

The various Christian churches, (ie: Church of Ireland, Methodist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic,) are supporting this peace walk, taking into account that King Brian Boru died not in battle, but at prayer.

The walk will be held on Sunday, April 13, Palm Sunday, commencing at 2.30pm at the corner of the Howth road and Clontarf roads, close to the railway bridge.

Clontarf passports will be issued and stamped at each church on the route and a certificate given at the final destination to those who complete the walk. You can also make a partial walk.

Although this is a Clontarf venture, all who wish to walk for peace from wherever you come from, are most welcome.
