Puzzling prices for motor diesel fuel
Starting in Bandon, the price was €1.489 per litre. Moving onto a little village en route, it was €1.449. Finally, in Clonakilty diesel was priced at €1.429 per litre. The question is, why the price difference? If it’s transport costs then you would presume Clonakilty to be dearest, but this is not the case.
As we are once again in election mode, both local and European, I would challenge the candidates to look into the price differentiation. Is there a certain cause, and what’s the remedy? I’m not for one minute saying there is a cartel going on in Bandon, but why are all the providers there priced the same at any one time?
