Force needs new broom

Perhaps the time is now right for the Government to appoint a Garda Commissioner from outside the Force.

Force needs new broom

Any appointment from within the Force will continue the same mindset that has brought about recent problems. A new broom and complete change of attitude is needed.

To facilitate this the Government would also need to offer incentives to serving Deputy/Assistant Commissioners and all members of rank of Chief Superintendent to leave the Force. That would greatly assist the newly appointed Commissioner to clean out old attitudes which are no longer applicable to modern-day policing.
