A celebration of Irishness
It drew enormous crowds, at least as large as previous years. Perhaps more: if there had been a decrease, we would have heard it from the agenda-pushing press.
Whatever one’s opinions about an issue, the role of editorial comment is to relay the truth.
The NY parade is a celebration of Irish culture and endeavour. It has never been about rights issues, either social or political. It is about fun and celebration, for young and old, liberal and conservative, and when it ceases to be just that, it can no longer describe itself as inclusive.
