UN report is being used to attack Church

The recent UN Human Rights report on the Catholic Church belongs in the category of ‘you couldn’t make it up’.

The comedic aspect of the report itself is only surpassed by its use by some commentators (many of them in Ireland) to attack the Catholic Church.

Among the members of the UN Committee are paragons of free speech and democratic virtue: China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Syria. &

Apart from their outstanding record in promoting human rights, what many of these regimes also have in common is that much of their female population receives its education (much of it clandestine and dangerous) from Catholic teaching orders. In addition, it was reported a number of years ago that Catholic and other charitable groups had been involved in assisting women and children in a number of African countries who had been subject to rape & abuse by — guess who – UN peacekeeping soldiers.

The absurdity of this report is only surpassed by the fact that the Irish Government squanders taxpayers’ monies in funding this ridiculous organisation.
