Hierarchy is failing priests and congregation

I write in connection with Mr Ian Elliott’s sad experience as the chief executive for six years with the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church, as recently reported in several newspapers.

Mr Elliott was certainly a critical and fearless investigator in challenging the irresponsibility of the Catholic bishops and religious orders for covertly trying to limit and obstruct the work he had been contracted to do.

He produced some damning reports and audits on how the Church was still falling short of its responsibilities.
