‘Functioning planning‘ not evident during Celtic Tiger

I refer to yesterday’s press release from the SEAI, and the assertion by its chief operations officer, Dr Brian Motherway, that “we have a transparent and functioning planning process, which has proven itself capable, time and again, of making objective decisions”.

Where has Dr Motherway been for the past 15 years? Is he conveniently overlooking the mess of ghost estates and developments built on flood plains, which were approved by our ‘functioning planning process’? I do not have an issue with the development of wind energy, but I have concerns about its regulation.
