Maybe politicians need to be tested like drivers

Should the proposal to test drivers of commercial and public service vehicles for alcohol and drugs be extended to Oireachtas members? Surely running our country is as important as driving vehicles?

There is sufficient information to indicate that decisions may improve as a result. For example: We may not be installing meters outside every dwelling while we have so many homeless people and so many empty houses.

We may not be scarring our landscape with additional pylons when perhaps we should have installed or made provision to install electric cables adjacent to other communication channels like gas lines, motorways, waterways, railways or even offshore submarine ways.
