Naive about State apologies

Louise O’Keeffe is remarkable; her innocence was destroyed by an agent of the Irish State, yet her naivete regarding a politician’s apology remains undimmed.

Naive about State apologies

Is this how it will be — unspeakable acts committed with both the knowledge and connivance of the State and its servants, followed, so many years later, by an apology by someone who is supposedly ‘in command’? Couldn’t happen today?

It does.

Who is responsible for denying the truth in this case, all the way to the highest court in Europe? I am sorry if Ms O’Keefe, and any nameless victims of State abuse, are upset by the phrasing of my letter, but someone has to stand up and be counted, and not just those who have undergone needless suffering.
