I am writing to protest at the wind turbine monstrosities that are being erected in Cork harbour in an area that has been blighted by hideous development for years.

At a time where the harbour’s tourist potential is being touted with Spike Island, etc, to the first impression for tourists who arrive will be these giant turbines.

Why couldn’t other sources of energy be explored such as tidal or wave energy? And why yet again is our visual environment being ruined forever? Monks in 10th century Ireland used a tidal mill to generate energy. Surely the four big multinationals involved could have come up with a less conspicuous alternative.
