Water debacle shows we are as crazy as ever

You have to begin to wonder whether we have really gone crazy. Since the founding of the State we have a water supply system which has been operated reasonably efficiently by our county councils.

We have had occasional hiccups but by and& large the water supplied has been clean and drinkable. Then the EU instruct us to start charging for water and instead of using the experienced county council staff to set up the new company we set up a new water board with new personnel at enormous cost to the taxpayers.

How many of the county council staff have been left go? My guess is not one. And we pay the new water board staff a bonus before a drop of water is supplied. It beggars belief. I thought the lessons of carefree, rash spending might be over having gone through the pain of the last few years, but it appears we are acting as foolishly as ever.
