Regarding your report on court poor boxes (Irish Examiner, Jan 21), sending money to foreign charities is doing a disservice to our economy.

Charity begins at home

If assistance is desired to be directed to less well-off foreign agencies, then it should be given to projects here, the development of which will benefit foreign people eventually. But please let’s keep this money at home.
