Wind turbine farce leaves me in a spin

I couldn’t believe my ears listening to Pat Rabbitte on the radio recently.

On a discussion on wind turbines he admitted that on top of what these companies are paid to generate electricity, they were paid a further €200million to stop generating electricity. I hope everyone realises that they are paying a substantial levy on every electricity bill to cover these inefficient monstrosities. As a hillwalker I can see what they are doing to our countryside. As well as paying back European banks we’re subsidising European wind turbine manufacturing companies.

There’s huge controversy about these new pylon routes which will really destroy our countryside.

Why not run these interconnector cables offshore between Northern Ireland, Dublin, Wexford and Cork? We already have a connector between Wales/ Ireland and N Ireland/Scotland and there are proposals for a connector between Wexford and France.
