Help us to help sick children in hospitals

Children in Hospital Ireland-Yoobyoo is a small national charity providing play for children in hospitals throughout the country and advocating for best standards in the delivery of care to all sick children and their families.

The charity was founded in 1970 and today CHI-Yoobyoo continues this work and more. We support government play policy through a unique volunteer-run Hospital Play Service, including vetting and training. Our 400 volunteers provide in excess of 40,000 hours of fun and activities each year to over 100,000 often scared children and give parents a needed break. Using our experience and expertise we advocate for the improvements in delivery of care.

Our services are supported by three and a half core staff constantly under pressure from yearly income decreases. The spending of every cent is watched and accounted for monthly.

I am absolutely dismayed by recent events and emphasise that the charities involved represent a tiny percentage of the total. But CHI-Yoobyoo and many other small committed organisations are being affected. Please don’t forget the thousands of adults and children who benefit from these charities — continue to give.
