My solution to pylons controversy

May I suggest the following possible solution to the pylons controversy.

My solution to pylons controversy

Put the cables overground in much the same way as oil and gas pipelines which can be seen snaking their way, largely unobtrusively, across the vast areas of landscape in various parts of the world.

Such an installation would be no more than one metre high and offers tremendous flexibility in that it could go into culverts to cross roads and rail lines and over suitable bridge type structures to spam rivers etc.

This plan may not be at all ideal and could well be expensive. However, we need to take a very long-term view on this issue, and care of the rural landscape, which is a priceless asset for both citizens and tourists alike, must be paramount.
