Elderly and sick paying heavy price for elite

I wonder if many of your readers feel as aggrieved as myself when government ministers tell us how they have “helped the people of Ireland” in the financial crisis.

Elderly and sick paying heavy price for elite

It seems to me the “people of Ireland” have suffered and continue to suffer greatly as the result of government actions. Promises made before the last election have been ignored.

The elderly have been singled out for “cruel” and unusual punishment.

The sick and those in need have “entitlements” reduced or withdrawn.

The promised “caps” on salaries have been ignored.

Funds collected to assist the ill or needy have been “plundered” to top up already high salaries.

All this while bankers, developers, senior civil servants, and former government ministers relax and enjoy their pensions and “golden” handshakes.

I suggest our present and previous governments should be considered traitors to this country and the Irish people. The title “Benedict Arnold” can aptly be applied.
