Revenue’s payment mantra is smokescreen

Despite the outcry against the Revenue penalisation of property owners who wish to pay by debit/credit card or cheque, by enforcing the payment in Nov 2013, Revenue keep returning, infuriatingly, to their facile default mantra that “it’s important to point out that this is the nature of the debit/credit card system and is exactly what would happen if you booked a flight or a concert, for 2014, using your card”.

Revenue’s payment mantra is smokescreen

Apart from the analogy being erroneous, given that flight and concert bookings involve personal discretion, everyone knows how cheques and debit cards operate.

Repeating this mantra is being disingenuous, as everyone equally knows that the issue of contention is the arbitrarily chosen November date, which has brought about the premature charge.
