Government needs to come clean on adoption

Following the debate on gay marriage my view is evolving.

Government needs to come clean on adoption

But I don’t know if it is of the Government, the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN), campaigner Colm O’Gorman and all advocates in favour of it. I support gay marriage and since I found out it is proposed that gay married couples want to be able to adopt children I have continued to support gay marriage, bar this.

If the Government and GLEN and the gay advocates and their supporters come out and say that in the event of gay married couples having adoption rights that they of course still accept that, in the context where we have in Ireland an oversupply of good male and female couples wanting to adopt and that generally having a foster mother and father is ideal for children (with teenagers I can see it being okay for gay married couples also, I suppose) then I can see the rationale in making gay people, who are in favour of this, happy, and in changing the law technically.
