Cork Islamic centre deserves our welcome

I was delighted to read that the Islamic centre has officially been opened in Cork, and in time I hope to visit it.

Cork Islamic centre deserves our welcome

As a society, we must welcome other cultures, and embrace other beliefs. I wish, and hope, that people will realise they do not have to fear Islam and that we will also have a mosque in every major city in Ireland, where Muslims can practice their faith in peace.

We are all entitled to live our faith and it is particularly important to all Islamic people, away from their own country and culture, to be able to practise their religion. The last thing we need is for public figures to cause problems and put fear into people’s minds.
